TRAAKAN, INC. ANNOUNCES NEXT GENERATION NAS SOFTWARE COMPONENTS FOR USE BY DEVELOPERS The Company updates its field proven NAS software to be available on multiple operating system platforms and with state-of-the art capabilities. LOS ALTOS, CA.—Mar. 30, 2003—Traakan, Inc., a leading provider of NAS software for hardware OEMs, today announced the availability of its next generation of NAS software. Called OmniTraak Software Components, this package contains three separate modules designed to allow developers that require NAS capabilities for their products to easily and effectively implement those functions. The first three OmniTraak components are: OmniTraak File System (OTFS): a software component that organizes disk storage into files, provides access control and security, and provides methods for naming files. OTFS supports enterprise level features such as full journaling, snapshots and volume sizes up to 64 billion terabytes. OmniTraak Network File System (OTNFS): provides a high-speed bypass from the standard NFS layer to the OmniTraak file system, saving processor power and boosting performance. OmniTraak Volume Manager (OTVM): virtualizes disk storage, then portions it out to logical volumes. The storage can be directly attached (ATA, SCSI), Fibre Channel attached (SAN), or attached through standard networking (iSCSI). OmniTraak is designed to be ported to a variety of platforms, and readily provides competitive enterprise-class features and performance, while opening the door to file storage innovations. Initially developed on a proprietary operating system, OmniTraak will eventually be made available on a variety of POSIX-type operating systems including NetBSD, FreeBSD, BSD/OS, Linux, QNX, VxWorks, and Solaris.
